[00:00:07] Speaker A: Welcome to the weekday podcast of Sugar Hill Church, where we desire to help you know God and discover your purpose, whether you're exercising, driving, meditating, or just hanging out while you tune in with us today. Thanks. We hope these next five minutes help you feel encouraged and inspired for your day. [00:00:22] Speaker B: Hi, everybody. This is Pastor Chuck Allen, and I'm so glad that you've joined me, being one of our many wonderful listeners here on the weekday podcast. Today, I want to go back to where I left off the other day in Psalm 19 and pick up in verse 7. Excuse me. In the new living translation, the text says, the instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Now, if you break this down, God's instructions are not restrictive at all. They're restorative. It's worth saying again, God's instructions, straight from the scriptures, they're not restrictive, my friend. They are restorative. They're not a heavyweight pushing you down, but a lifeline pulling you up. Imagine a GPS that not only shows you the right path, but fills your heart with joy as you travel. That's what God's guidance is like. It revives your soul. It brings wisdom to your mind and provides crystal clear insight for your direction. The psalmist continues and says, reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true. Each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold. It says, even the finest gold, they're sweeter than honey. Even pure honey from the honeycomb. Now you think about that. More desirable than gold, sweeter than honey. These aren't just poetic words, y'all. They're an invitation to see God's guidance as a gift, not a burden. Many of us see how God addresses us and we think, oh, gosh, I got a list of rules I've gotta follow. When in essence, God is saying, you know, it's so much easier to follow my path when you love me. And it's so much easier to obey me if you adore me. I mean, think about the beauty of how this cyclical work of following Jesus is reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. In a world full of noise and conflicting advice, God offers something pure, something lasting, something true. His instructions are a love letter to you, carefully crafted to help you become the most incredible version of yourself. God desires you to exceed greatly. Today, I want you to know, friend, you are deeply loved. You are carefully guided and you are continuously supported by a God who adores you. Embrace his direction. Embrace his instruction. They're not a chain and not chains that weigh you down. They're wings that let you fly. Amen, Amen and Amen. Be blessed, my friend. And thanks so much for listening in on today's weekday podcast. [00:03:17] Speaker A: Thanks so much for joining us today for the weekday podcast. Our prayer is that the encouragement you just heard would help you live more like Jesus today.
