[00:00:22] Speaker B: Hi everybody, this is Pastor Chuck Allen and I want to thank you for joining me on today's weekday podcast where I want to talk about the world's greatest commodity, peace. It's such an elusive quality in our world. The rulers of this world, most of whom don't know Jesus, pursue all kind of attempts to overtake, to destroy and to conquer. That's kind of the history of humans on this planet, isn't it?
That leaves us to find our own peace, or some portion of it in our lives.
And then the question remains, is it even possible?
The prophet Isaiah identified a mind that is faithfully trusting in God as a source of peace. Not only peace, but perfect peace.
John said in John 14:27, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. Now I don't know if we'll ever have peace on earth in the sense of every nation at peace with other nations.
I mean, the despots and tyrants prevent this from becoming a reality. And we live in a sin filled world, but within the world in which we live is peace a possibility. And I believe it is, but only because of one reality. Jesus being the Prince of peace as described in Isaiah chapter nine tells us that. And then when I read the Gospels, I see that often Jesus didn't experience peaceful relationship with the rulers and the kings around him. And ultimately his own people placed him on a cross. So what peace can Jesus really promise us? Well, the ultimate peace that anyone can experience is to know that Jesus freed us from our sins through his work on the cross. In addition, we can know that Jesus hears and answers our prayers. Not always on our timeline or in the way we ask, but he answers. Peace comes from knowing that the problems and pains of this world have a limited time. And upon his return, King Jesus will make all things new.
The peace that Jesus promises is not like the peace the world promises. Ceasefires and treaties fall by the wayside when another violent person steps into power. But the peace of Jesus abides. It remains. The peace he offers us gives us peace in the storms that we face today.
So yeah, there is peace from the Prince of Peace. Putting our focus on him and his presence in our lives is even in the most difficult of circumstances, brings us peace. He promises that, and he is a God that cannot lie. Thanks so much for joining me on today's weekday podcast.
