[email protected] prayersugarhillchurch.com Also, I want to invite you to swing by the website eastern sugarhill.com as we get ready for Easter and in about a month it's going to be an incredible season. We want to invite you to experience Jesus and his hope this season. Well, today I want to think about this idea that God's got better timing than you do, than I do. In John 21, verse 4, there's a timing situation says, but when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach. Yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. So if I were to ask you to raise your hand, if patience isn't your strong suit, chances are most of you listening would raise your hand, because mind's in the air as well. Well, and I think the truth is we live in a world that's built around instant, like, instant answers and instant access, instant results. And honestly, we start to carry that expectation into our relationship with God. We want him to show up fast. We want him to break through now. We want the answer to the prayer. We've been praying for a while, preferably by the end of the week, if not today.
[00:01:16] When he doesn't come through on our timeline, it's easy to start wondering if he's even in the room.
[00:01:22] But this verse that is so powerful says, when the day was now breaking. Like that's when Jesus showed up on the beach. Not at the beginning of the night when the disciples were rested and ready. Not in the middle of their effort, when they still had energy and a little bit of hope. He showed up at the end of the long night when they were exhausted, when their hands were sore, when their nets were empty and they were fresh out of ideas. That is the moment that Jesus chose. That was his timing. And I don't think it's by accident. I think God often waits until we've come to the end of ourselves.
[00:01:55] Not because he's slow, but because he's strategic. When we're still convinced that we can figure it out, we tend to give God partial credit. But when we've completely run out of our own answers, that's when there's no question about who actually came through. It's not me. It's not you. Think about a slow cooker versus a microwave.
[00:02:16] Nobody brags about a microwave meal, but let something simmer in a crock pot for seven or eight hours. Let those flavors develop. Let the process do its work.
[00:02:26] That's what comes out. That's when something unbelievable that's worth talking about comes out. God is doing something in you right now. That takes time. The waiting, it isn't wasted. The long night, it isn't forgotten. He's already standing on the shore of whatever you're walking through? The day is breaking even Even if you can't see the light yet.
[00:02:47] So my encouragement. Hold on.
[00:02:49] His timing's not late, it's exact and he'll show up for you. Have a great day. We'll see you back here soon for another edition of the weekday podcast.
