[00:00:09] Welcome back to another edition of the weekday podcast. I'm so glad you're here today. We're continuing this week long journey and the idea is to help you discern a word for the year. And again, this Sunday is going to be Rock Sunday, where you can write this word on your rock. And so as you get ready, every day this week I'm giving you a different category. Mondays was all about intentionality, so if you missed that one, go back and catch up on it because maybe that's the category of word that you want to sit with this week. Well, today the category is actually trust. And so the scripture today is Proverbs 3, verses 5 and 6 that says this Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, submit to him and he will make your path straight. Now this verse is honestly familiar for a lot of people, but it's not always easy to live out. Trust literally means following God's presence even when we don't have the full plan. It means letting go of the need to control every single outcome. So sometimes the word that God gives us for a new season isn't about necessarily doing more.
[00:01:14] Sometimes it's just about trusting deeper. Trusting God with your future or trusting him with your family, or trusting him with what feels uncertain right now.
[00:01:22] And so this may be the category of your word. And so I want to give you some examples of what that word might be. And again, you don't have to pick it today, but see what resonates with you. Obviously the word trust. Trust would be choosing to believe God is at work even when you can't see the outcome.
[00:01:39] Another variation might be surrender, releasing control and letting God lead your next steps. Or how about faith, taking God at His word even when circumstances feel shaky or rest, letting God carry what you've been trying to carry alone. Or peace, allowing God to quiet what feels anxious inside of you.
[00:01:58] Dependence, remembering you were never meant to do this on your own. Abide staying connected to Jesus in everyday life.
[00:02:06] Yield, softening your grip so that God can guide your direction or hope. Believing in the future that it's still in God's hands.
[00:02:15] Or anchor staying steady in God when everything else feels, well, uncertain. Or wait, trusting that waiting is not wasted when God is at work. Or how about this one? Receive, letting God give you what you don't have to earn.
[00:02:30] So today as you think about these words, these are all parts of the category of trust. So maybe one of these words resonates with you. So here's the question for today. Where is God inviting you to trust him more than you trust yourself this year? Now, you don't have to solve it today, but notice what word keeps coming back to you. And so I just want to thank you. Thanks for being part of the weekday podcast family. Please share these with a friend and again join us every day this week as we prepare for our Word of the Year through Rock Sunday. Have a great day. I'll see you back here soon.
