[00:00:22] Speaker B: Hi, everybody, and thanks so much for joining me on today's weekday podcast, where I want to talk about Deep and Wide. You know when you were a little kid and you sang that song, you know, deep and Wide, Deep and wide. There's a fountain flowing deep and wide. You probably sang that song like I did. Well, Ephesians, chapter 3, beginning verse 17, puts it this way. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the Lord's holy people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of of God. We've been told and we've sung, Jesus loves you. But a lot of us have failed to grasp the massive enormity and the intensity of his love for us. Comprehending the extent of it is way beyond the reach of our humanity. Just how great is Christ's love for us? Paul says it's too great to know on your own that we need power to grasp it, he says, not individually, but together with all the Lord's holy people. Now, that's an important component. Not only that, but we need roots in love to grasp this great love for us. I mean, that's deep, that is wide, that is complex. We need to dive into this section in this verse to gain a little understanding. God's love is wide. His love extends to every nation, race and gender. God's love is long. It is the length of eternity, reaching from the very first living beings through the ages to today and beyond, into all of time and eternity. You see, you were loved when you were made the biggest mistake of your life. You were loved right here in the present moment. Doesn't matter whether you've done good, bad, this or that. His love will be where you are tomorrow. You never have to go one day without God's love. God's love is high. In fact, God is called most high throughout Scripture. His love is as high as the heavens. He raises us high above our enemies. His love reaches down to us and then lifts us up high to share his throne in heaven. I mean, that's the height of God's love. And God's love is deep even Though God is on high and humanity is fallen, we haven't ever fallen past the reach of God's love. His love reaches down through the vastness of this universe and covers over all of our wrong. There's no pit too deep for God's love to reach in and pull me and you out. Upon our first call to to Him Sometime today, look up Psalm 71:20 and read about that. Our human capacity to love can only reach so far. We love more deeply than folks we know, more fully than those who just acquaintances. But the intensity of our love varies depending on our knowledge of other people. In the same way, our love for God can only go as far as our knowledge of Him. But God's knowledge of us is infinite, just as his love for us is. Think about that today. God knows you and he loves you deeply. There's a place in his heart for you and he rejoices over you. Christ's love for you is so overwhelming. Go wide, go long, surge high. Go deep.
