[00:00:00] Foreign.
[00:00:06] Pastor Chuck Allen here with another weekday podcast. And today I want us to walk through this concept. How do we cut the noise so that we might hear from God afresh and anew?
[00:00:18] Number one question that I receive from people overwhelmingly is, how do I know it's the voice of God?
[00:00:26] Number two, how can I hear the voice of God?
[00:00:30] Let me give you three words that I believe should be greatly encouraging to you today.
[00:00:36] The whisper of God awaits.
[00:00:39] Friends, thanks for joining me on the weekday podcast. I want you to imagine. You're scrolling, notifications are pinging, the world is screaming, but deep down, you're craving that one voice that cuts through all of that.
[00:00:55] What if God's whisper is waiting right now just for you?
[00:01:02] So let's take this Old Testament passage and lean into one. Kings, chapter 19 from the New Living translation, where Elijah, fresh off of calling fire down from heaven, royally just crashes under a broom tree and listen to his prayer.
[00:01:22] In verse four, it says, I have had enough. Lord, take my life.
[00:01:28] He's exhausted. He's alone. He's feeling like the last one standing.
[00:01:33] Sound familiar in any of our non stop, wide open, gigabyte a day life, Just stop the noise, Lord.
[00:01:42] But God.
[00:01:44] But God. Those two words. An angel shows up and says in verse five, get up and eat bread, water.
[00:01:53] Friends, sometimes we need to be reminded that restoration starts with the basics.
[00:01:59] Elijah travels to Orab expecting thunder, earthquake, and fire, just like Moses saw. Wind rips rocks, quake, shakes, fire, blazes. But here's the thing.
[00:02:13] In this moment in Elijah's life, God is not in any of that. Then in verse 12, it says, after the fire, there was the sound. Listen to this, y'. All. The sound of a gentle whisper.
[00:02:27] Friend, that's the invitation.
[00:02:30] Get your proximity close enough to the whisper. Because in the gigabyte a day life that we live, silence isn't empty.
[00:02:39] Silence is sacred space.
[00:02:42] This week, try five minutes. No phone, just breath. Lean in.
[00:02:49] God's still speaking, friends.
[00:02:51] No podcast, no book, no preaching.
[00:02:55] Let him speak softer than the storm, closer than you think. Because you are not alone.
[00:03:03] The whisper of God is calling your name.
[00:03:07] God, would you quiet our chaos and tune our hearts to your gentle voice? Because, Lord, we know you've got a word for us, and we know you've got an encouragement for us.
[00:03:19] So let us lean in close enough that when you whisper, we know it's you.
[00:03:24] Lord, we're grateful. In the name of Jesus, we all pray. Amen. Amen and amen. Thanks for joining me on today's we weekday podcast.
