[00:00:12] Hey, friends. Welcome back to another edition of the weekday podcast. All week long, we've been looking at Daniel living out of his conviction. But the question today is, so, does it actually work? Does holding your convictions actually pay off, or does it actually cost you some something? And I think that's a real question, because doing the right thing when nobody's applauding for it does cost something. Now, Daniel gave up comfort. He gave up fitting in. He chose the harder, the quieter road when the easier one was just sitting right in front of him. But here's how his story answers the question. Does it actually work? It says in Daniel 1, starting in verse 15, that at the end of 10 days, their appearance seemed better. They were fatter than all the youths who had been eating the King's choice food. And as for these four, God gave them knowledge and intelligence in every branch of literature and wisdom. And then a little later, in verse 20, it says, as for every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king consulted him, he found them 10 times better than all the magicians, the conjurers who were in his realm. I love that phrase, ten times better.
[00:01:14] Now, I want to be careful, because I'm not telling you that if you make good decisions, everything automatically goes your way. The that's not what the Bible teaches, and that's not how life actually works. Sometimes you do the right thing and it still feels like nothing's happening. You hold your ground and people look at you sideways anyway. And that is real. But here is what is true. Obedience is not a ceiling. It's a launchpad. The people around Daniel who just went along, who said yes to everything, who blended in, they got comfortable, average. But Daniel and his friends came out sharper, steadier, more ready for what was actually coming.
[00:01:52] And I think about seasons in my own life where change didn't happen in one dramatic moment. It actually happened in a hundred small, unseen decisions made quietly week after week after week, when nobody was watching. And nobody would have noticed if I'd quit. Nobody throws a party for the 10th small decision in a row, but that's exactly where the real building happens. The 10 days of vegetables probably felt like they didn't count in that moment, but they were forming something in Daniel that four different kings of Babylon would eventually depend on.
[00:02:22] So here's what I want to leave you with today. The small decision you're tempted to skip because nobody's watching. That decision is not a wasted moment. That's the foundation for the moment that actually matters. Later, when everyone is watching, there's something freeing about that. It means you don't have to wait for a big platform. You don't have to wait for some dramatic opportunity to prove your character. You get to build it today. And whatever ordinary thing that's in front of you. The honest answer that nobody's asked for, the extra effort. Nobody will notice. The 10 days of vegetables that feel like they don't matter. God isn't waiting on your highlight reel. He's working in your ordinary day. We overestimate what God can do in a single moment. We underestimate what he can do over time. Trust the process. Even when it's invisible, the building is happening whether you can see it yet or not. Okay. Obedience is not a ceiling. It literally is a launch pad. Have a great day.
