[00:00:22] Speaker B: Well, hey, friends, welcome back to another edition of the weekday podcast. We love getting to hang out with you, Pastor Chuck. And I love getting to do these. If there's ever a topic that you think would be helpful, if there's something you'd like to hear more about, please drop us a note at podcastugarhillchurch.com podcastugarhillchurch.com it'd be awesome to hear from you. It really would. We'd love to speak to something that's helpful to you. Also, if you don't mind, if you're listening to this on some platform that has a way to review it, man, it would be awesome if you drop a couple of lines just to help other people to hear about it. I just realized I said awesome a bunch of times. So let me transition and talk about today. Today I want to talk about the results of consistency in Daniel, the Old Testament book we read about. In chapter one, he's a young man and by the end of the book, he's an older gentleman who ends up serving four different kingdoms. Think about that. He serves four different kingdoms. When we meet him, he's a teenager, probably 13, 14, 15 years old. By the end of his life, he's well beyond his 80s. And what we, and I said this in a previous episode, but often what we do is we overestimate what we can accomplish in a day and we underestimate the power of consistency over a lifetime. So I just want to zoom out for a second and tell you three things that happened in the life of Daniel because of his consistency. Number one, he had a personal victory. He had a personal victory.
Essentially, he ends up serving four dominant kingdoms. He gets promoted. There were several times throughout his lifetime that people turned on him. People tried to sabotage his career. People lied behind his back. And yet over time, he had victory after victory after victory. It doesn't mean it was easy. It doesn't mean that the load was light. But number one, he had personal victory. Number two, he changed the world. He literally changed the world. I told you. He served four dominant kingdoms. He ends up serving Cyrus, the king that signs the edict that allows them to go back into their homeland. This is amazing. He becomes this influential leader for four dominant kingdoms of the world. He changed the world. And then number three, we're still challenged by him today. Think about this. A couple of thousand years later, we are still challenged by his life. And so today I think overnight success is overrated. I think the real power is consistency over the long haul. So today I want to encourage you, be consistent even when nobody's looking, even when you feel like it doesn't even matter. Never underestimate the power of a consistent life. Have a great day. We'll see you back here soon.
