[00:00:22] Speaker B: Well, hey friends, welcome to another edition of the Weekday Podcast. We're so glad you're here today. If you're new to these, we spend about five minutes a day every single weekday. Our hope is to offer a little bit of scripture and a little bit of encouragement for your day. And if you're a regular, we'd be so encouraged. If you wouldn't mind sharing these with a friend, you can just send them to the link weekdaypodcast.com well, today I want us to think about this idea of the power of being devoted. The Power of being devoted. One of my favorite people in all of scripture is Daniel. In Daniel, Chapter one, Daniel has been stripped away from home. He's been taken hostage, basically by an evil king and an evil kingdom. And this king has his own plan. This king's plan is to deconstruct everything that Daniel believes. Now, Daniel is a strong believer in God, and yet this evil king, Nebuchadnezzar, wants to undo, unlearn, unteach everything that Daniel believes. And there's some of the things the king does that honestly wasn't a big deal. But there came a moment where what the king wanted crossed a line. And Daniel was so devoted that he noticed it and he did something about it. Listen to this one verse today in Daniel 1, verse 8, it says, but Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the king's choice food or with the wine which he drank. And so in this one little phrase, it says, he made up his mind there was something that he was not willing to do. Why? Because even though he was living in Babylon, he was serving a different king. He was devoted to to God. And so I want you to think about today. Who are you devoted to? Daniel was devoted in at least three different ways to God. Number one, to the person of God. He had a relationship with God that was real and personal. So he didn't want to do anything that would hurt that relationship. Number two, he was devoted to the passions of God. He cared about what God cares about. He was like, what does God want? What does God love? I want to be about those things. And then number three, he was rooted in his devotion to the power of God. He understood that God gets the final word today Think about the clarity that comes from devotion. That today, when you're facing big decisions and small decisions, when you're trying to decide what to do instead of gauging what everybody else is doing, to think, what does God want me to do? Be rooted in devotion. There's something powerful about that. Have a great day. We'll see you back here soon.
