[00:00:06] Hey, everybody. Pastor Chuck Allen here with another weekday podcast. Today I want to talk about the Spirit in the beginning. And this is the first of a five part series specifically on the Holy Spirit. Now, in the Scriptures, Genesis 1 starts off with this in the beginning. That's how it all starts out, right? I mean, Genesis 1:2 says the Earth was formless and empty and darkness covered the deep waters, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Hovering. Now that word is like super picture rich. I mean, it's. It's like a bird protecting its nest. It's like breath before speaking. The. The Spirit, the Holy Spirit of God. Present, alive, moving before anything else had taken shape in this. In this world. [00:00:50] And this is how the story begins. Not with absence, but with presence. [00:00:55] The Spirit of God is already there, already filling what looked like nothingness. Creation isn't something that happened, something that is constantly held together by the Spirit of God. So if a child says, well, then who made God, God has always been. [00:01:11] Therefore, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit have always been, and they still are being, and they are still holding it all together, that which they created. [00:01:23] So Paul writes in the book of colossians, in chapter one, verse 17, he says he existed before anything else and he holds all creation together. [00:01:31] The Spirit has always been there in the weaving of galaxies and the growing of trees and the rhythm of your own breathing. And here's the beauty. That same Spirit who hovered over the waters is hovering over you today. [00:01:45] Even when your life feels formless, when it feels empty, even when darkness seems to cover you, God's Spirit is present there with you, for you, around you. So the invitation today is to stop and notice and ask yourself, am I allowing the Spirit of God to give me the direction he so desperately wants to give me? Am I willing to stop long enough to remember that I am surrounded, I am upheld, I am breathed into by the Spirit of God who is there in the beginning and is here with me now today. My friend, my encouragement to you is to recognize that this Spirit that God has so generously given us through His Son Jesus has always been, always will be, and is here as a gift for you. All you've got to do is receive it and accept it and then allow him to do the leading, the guiding, the correcting and the directing in your life. The degree to which you get the benefit of God's Spirit is the degree to which you are willing to be obedient and surrender to Him. So today stop and ask yourself, how am I doing in that world? How are me and the Holy Spirit, God, walking together? Am I willing to stop, take a breath and speak and say, spirit, would you give me direction and clarification? God, would you use your spirit to let me know? Do I take a left hand or right hand or sometimes it's just God, would you just slow my mind down and let your spirit guide me and direct me to give me clarity in a moment where it feels like there is none? Friend, the Spirit of God is there for you always. [00:03:20] And all you've got to do is, is trust him and he will guide you and direct you. [00:03:25] It does come with the necessity to genuinely trust him, walk with him, listen to him, spend time with him, and know what his voice sounds like within your soul. And when you do that, the more it's simple and the more it is genuinely a blessing to walk in obedience and surrender today. [00:03:45] Walk in that surrender and enjoy the beauty of being guided, directed, corrected and consoled by this great counselor, the Spirit of the living God given to us because of our relationship with Jesus the Christ. [00:03:59] So when you look at it this way, you realize, wait a minute. Within me is God the Father, Creator, God the Son, Jesus my Savior, and God the Holy Spirit, my keeper. Walk in that faith today. God bless you, friend, and thanks so much for listening in on today's weekday podcast.
