[00:00:00] Foreign.
[00:00:10] Welcome to the weekday podcast. This is Bobby. I'm so grateful you're with us today and hopefully all week long as we build on this theme. But I wonder if you've ever gotten exactly what you were chasing for and you felt the signal got louder instead of getting quieter. Like the promotion, the relationship, the vacation you've been planning for months. It finally arrived. But something inside of you just whispered, is this it?
[00:00:33] Now, if you felt that, you're not broken for feeling it. That's actually your soul doing exactly what it was designed to do before anything went wrong. In the story of humanity, God built a world and he stepped back to admire it six times. In Genesis 1, he looks at what he made and he calls it good. Like over and over again. But when he gets to people, when he gets to you, he doesn't just say good, he says very good in the original language of Hebrew. It's emphatic that he's delighted that there's joy in that moment, that you were not an afterthought in the creative process. You were the point of it. And here's what that means for the ache that you feel, that restlessness, that low hum of something's not quite right. That ache is not a malfunction, it's a memory. Your soul remembers. Your soul remembers that you were built for. For something more. Even when you don't know what it is, even when you don't realize it in the moment. You are made for connection. You are made for purpose. You are made for a life that actually works the way it was designed to work. And so every time you reach for something and it doesn't satisfy the way that you expected, that's not weakness. That's your soul refusing to settle for less than what it was built for. It's pointing somewhere. And today I want to start talking about where it's pointing.
[00:01:49] The world was not always like this. The grief, the loneliness, the sense that something's missing. That's not God's original design. That's evidence that you are built for something better. So don't despise the signal. It's telling you the truth about you. So today I want to encourage you. When you feel that low grade restlessness, resist the urge to immediately drown it out. Let it speak for a moment. Ask God, what is this pointing to? He built that signal in you, or on purpose, that ache, it's not a malfunction, it's a memory. Genesis 1:31. God saw all that he made, and behold, it was very good. Have a great day. We'll see you back here soon.
