[00:00:09] Welcome back to another edition of the Weekday Podcast. This week we've been thinking about the story about what happens when Jesus shows up. And today we want to talk about how do you spot a God thing? In verse 7 of John 21, it says, Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loves said to Peter, it is the the Lord. And so when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work and he threw himself into the sea. How do you know if something is actually a God thing now? It's a good question because we've all had those moments where we've said, I think God's in it. And it turned out to be wishful thinking. And we've probably had those moments where we weren't sure God was in something at all, and it turned out to be one of the most significant things he had ever done in our lives. So. So how do you know the difference? Well, look at what happens in John 21, the next the nets that they're casting, they go from being completely empty to be completely overflowing. And the moment that John sees it, he doesn't need more evidence. He turns to Peter and he says these words, it is the Lord. Now, there's a clarity in that moment that I think points to a pattern. First, the timing was right. It happened when the disciples had run completely out of their own effort, not when they were at the top of their game.
[00:01:20] God tends to move after surrender, not before it. Second, trust was required before the results showed up. They cast the net without knowing what was going to happen. Faith came before sight. And third, the outcome was beyond what any human effort could have produced. 153 fish. A net that held when it could have torn. Only God could do that when those three things are present. Timing that only makes sense in hindsight. A step that requires real trust and a result that you can't fully explain. That's usually a God thing. So let me ask you a question today. Is there something in your life that has those marks on it? A door that opened after you finally stopped trying to force it? A relationship that turned a corner after you let go? A provision that showed up exactly when you had nothing left?
[00:02:09] Don't rush past those moments. Don't explain them away. Pay attention.
[00:02:14] Those aren't coincidence. They're invitations to look up and to say, just like John did, it is the Lord.
[00:02:20] A God thing always requires trust before the results show up. So trust him. That's my encouragement. Trust him today. Have a great day.
