[00:00:07] Speaker A: Welcome to the Weekday Podcast of Sugar Hill Church, where we desire to help you know God and discover your purpose, whether you're exercising, driving, meditating, or just hanging out while you tune in with us today. Thanks. We hope these next five minutes help you feel encouraged and inspired for your day.
[00:00:22] Speaker B: Hi everybody. Pastor Chuck Allen here with another weekday podcast. And today I want to talk about love that gives. Because it has to. That's right, love gives. It has to. Listen to what Luke chapter 12, verse 32 says in the new International Version. Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Not just the keys to the kingdom, but the kingdom. The Apostle John writes that God is love in 1st John 4:8. And Jesus himself said that God loves sinful and fallen humankind so much that he gave his most precious gift, his one and only son, John 3:16.
That's just the nature of love, isn't it? Love by its very nature has no choice but to give. Real love can't just be hidden away in the heart. It must find expression through gifts to its object. And the God who identifies himself as the perfect embodiment of love doesn't just give. He gives joyfully and he gives perfectly. This perfect giving love is what the Apostle James was pointing to when he wrote, every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows. That's from James 1:17.
Your God is perfect, friend, Perfect in His holiness and perfect in his giving love. He always has been and he always will be. Heavenly Father, thank you for your love and the gifts you give me. By your spirit, I'm grateful that you knew exactly what you were doing when you made me my friend. What a joy. And as we enter into this season of Advent, grab hold of that joy, for he loves you. God bless you, friend. Thanks for joining me on today's weekday podcast.
