[00:00:00] Foreign. [00:00:10] Welcome back to another edition of the Weekday Podcast. Today we're going to think about this idea that cracked is not broken. So let me ask you a question that maybe is a little uncomfortable for Tuesday. Is there someone in your life who used to be on a pedestal that isn't there anymore? Maybe it was a pastor, a mentor, a parent, a close friend, someone you admired, maybe even built some of your faith around. And. And then one day they. They were just. Well, they're human. They said the wrong thing, or they did the wrong thing, or they let you down in a way that you did not see coming. And something shifted after that, didn't it? Not just towards them, but towards everything they represented. If that's happened to you, Paul has something to say about it. In 2 Corinthians 4, he writes this. He says, but we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves. [00:00:58] Now, an earthen vessel for Paul is a clay pot. It is common. It is ordinary, it is fragile. In the ancient world, every household had a stack of them in the corner. Tools, not trophies. And Paul says, that's us. That's every single one of us. And here's what I've learned, and honestly, I'm still learning it. 100% of the people you will ever meet, they are earthen vessels, which means 100% of the people you will ever meet have cracks. Now, we tend to judge ourselves based on our intentions when we have a bad day. I know why. I was tired, I was stressed. I didn't mean it. But when somebody else has a bad day, all I see is what they did and that gap between the grace I extend myself and the grace I withhold from others. That's exactly where the pedestal problem lives. Now, the treasure doesn't need a perfect vessel. It just needs an honest one. But here's the other thing that Paul says, and don't miss it. He says this in verses 8 and 9. He says, we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed. Perplexed, but not despairing. Persecuted, but not forsaken. Struck down, but not destroyed. Four, but not. Listen to them again. Afflicted, but not crushed. Perplexed, but not despairing. Struck down, but not destroyed. Like these are powerful phrases. Paul is not pretending that the pressure isn't real. He names it first and every single time, he names it. But none of those things gets the final word, because the treasure inside the jar is stronger than anything pressing against it from the outside. So whatever you're carrying today. The jar can take more than you think. Not because you're stronger than you feel, but because. But because what's inside of you is stronger than the jar. Cracked jars are exactly the kind that God uses. Have a great day. We'll see you back here soon.
