We're so glad you're here today. If you ever need encouragement and technology isn't working and there's not a new episode, I want to encourage you to go to weekdaypodcast.com again. That's just weekdaypodcast.com and you can find the archives of literally hundreds, if not over a thousand episodes already. And I know that you'll find some encouragement in there. Today, I want to talk about this idea of living in a bad situation but having good theology. Now, if you're not familiar with the word theology, it simply is the study of God. I think it was CS Lewis that said that the most important thing we think about is what we think about God. And, and I think that's so true that we need to have good theology. Paul in 2 Corinthians 4 was being questioned. His motives were coming under scrutiny. People were attacking him. And Paul had to decide in the middle of those attacks, in the middle of that bad situation, what's going to get me through it? Well, trying to think better thoughts isn't going to get him through it, and trying to be a better person isn't going to get him through it. In a lot of ways, it starts with our thought life. And so for Paul, he needed good theology. Let's listen to what Paul said in 2nd Corinthians 4, verse 5. He says, we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus is Lord and ourselves as your bondservants on account of Christ, verse 6. He said, For God, who said light shall shine out of darkness, is the one who has shown in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. Paul realized, man, this is an important moment. What I choose to do during times of persecution is critical. And in that moment, Paul figured out how to live his life in the face of Christ. And so today, I just want to encourage you, whatever you're walking through today, remind yourself of who God is and remind yourself of what he's done in your life. Here's three simple reminders. Number one is that Jesus is still in control. Jesus is still in control. Our emergency does not set off the warning bells in heaven. Our emergency doesn't mean there's a crisis in heaven. Jesus isn't jumping off the throne in heaven today. So worried about the moment because in the moment that that seems so big to us is actually under his feet. Jesus is still in control. The second reminder is Jesus is the light in darkness. Jesus is the light in darkness. In the middle of the moment, if you want to stay in the dark, focus on the darkness. But if you want to see the light, fix your eyes on Jesus. And then here's the third reminder. Not only is Jesus in control, not only is he the light in the darkness, but Jesus gives us what we need now. He doesn't give us what we want. Oftentimes what we want is a shortcut and we just want to avoid the situation, but he gives us what we need to face it. I think it's part of that prayer that Jesus taught his disciples when he said, give us this day our daily bread. Give us what we need today. And so I want to encourage you. In the middle of bad situations, one of the things that's going to get you through it, if not the thing that's going to get you through it, is not how do you feel because our feelings are over the map is what you know to be true. You need to have good theology. Jesus is in control. He is your light in darkness and he'll give you exactly what you need. Have a great day. We'll see you back here soon. [00:03:38] Speaker A: Thanks so much for joining us today for the weekday podcast. Our prayer is that the encouragement you just heard would help you live more like Jesus today.
