[00:00:07] Speaker A: Welcome to the weekday podcast of Sugar Hill Church, where we desire to help you know God and discover your purpose, whether you're exercising, driving, meditating, or just hanging out while you tune in with us today. Thanks. We hope these next five minutes help you feel encouraged and inspired for your day. [00:00:22] Speaker B: Hey, everybody. Pastor Chuck Allen here with another weekday podcast. I read this the other day and I couldn't wait to share it with you. I read the title of this little writing that says a proverb a day keeps stupidity away. And that grabbed my attention because I thought, lord have mercy. I. I have a PhD in stupid at times, and I need something to keep it away from me. Therefore, that's why I read a chapter, Proverbs, that connects with whatever the day is. So, Today being the 27th, I'm reading Proverbs 27. A long time ago, there was a guy who lived in Germany, and a soldier was putting a stocking cap over his face and he robbed a bank. But he was immediately apprehended because he was wearing his uniform with his name tag clearly visible. Duh. I mean, this is like that show that, you know, I don't know if you've ever seen it or not, but it was people doing dumb things. And it's like criminals who do the dumbest stuff, like robbing a bank in your uniform with your name tag clearly being seen. I'm glad when criminals lac common sense, but I hate it when I do something that's that dumb. And God also wants us to avoid foolishness. That's one reason he gave us the book of Proverbs. General principles for Doing what's right and avoiding foolishness. For gaining wisdom and instruction. Understanding words of insight, Receiving instruction and prudent behavior. Doing what is right and just and fair. Giving prudence to those who are, simple knowledge and discretion to the young. Let the wise listen and add to their learning. And let the discerning get guidance for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and the riddles of the wise. And if you're wondering where that came from, that's Proverbs, chapter one in the first six verses. Proverbs are not guarantees, but they are wonderful, practical, helpful guidelines. And Proverbs can be easily divided for study. 31 chapters means you can read one for every chapter of the day, like I was doing earlier today, and you can go through the entire book every single month. Proverbs is one of those books you can't ever read enough of. Why not start the habit of a chapter of Proverbs, a day using today's date, choose the chapter in Proverbs, read through it, and write down the verses that give you wisdom for your current situations. And remember Proverbs 15:14. A discerning mind always seeks knowledge. Thanks so much for joining me on today's Weekday podcast. [00:02:58] Speaker A: Thanks so much for joining us today for the weekday podcast. Our prayer is that the encouragement you just heard would help you live more like Jesus today.
