[00:00:27] Today I want to think about the idea of not having to find your way back. There's this great story that we've been exploring from 2 Samuel, chapter 9, verse 5, where it says, then King David sent and he brought him from the house of Makir.
[00:00:41] One of the ideas that I've been wrestling with lately is this idea of grace, that grace doesn't wait for us to come to it. Honestly, grace comes for you. One of the things that is a distinction is the distinction between true relationship and.
[00:00:56] And actual religion. Religion says, fix it, then come home. But grace says, I am already on my way. And this passage, or this verse comes from one of the most powerful moments in the story of Mephibosheth. He didn't come to David. Instead, David the king came for him. He didn't write a letter. He didn't earn a hearing. He didn't clean himself up first. He was summoned or sent for by the king. And where was he? He was in a place called Lo Debar. He was in this place that was a barren place. The name literally means no pasture, no growth, no future, just survival.
[00:01:33] And I think sometimes we've been there, too. Maybe not physically, but emotionally. Or you're just stuck in a dry and weary place where there's no direction, no hope, and you're just trying to make it one more day.
[00:01:46] But God doesn't leave us in Lo Debar. He sends for us. He comes after us. He doesn't expect us to find our way back with some sort of spiritual gps.
[00:01:55] Instead, he sends grace as a search party. In fact, when Jesus stepped into time, he didn't say, I'll wait up here while you clean yourself up. He literally left heaven. He entered into our mess, and he came all the way to our lowest point, not to condemn us, but to carry us.
[00:02:12] Think about that. He's not here to condemn you. He's here to cure you. So wherever Lo Debar is for you, whether that's grief or shame or depression or loneliness, know this. The king knows where to find you. And he's not afraid of your mess. He's not disappointed by your distance. He's already on the way. Here's what I found. Grace doesn't wait for you to climb out of your pit. It climbs in and carries you out. You don't have to fight your way to the table. You just have to let the king carry.
[00:02:41] Have a great day. We'll see you back here soon.
[00:02:46] It.
