[00:00:07] Speaker A: Welcome to the weekday podcast of Sugar Hill Church where we desire to help you know God and discover your purpose, whether you're exercising, driving, meditating, or just hanging out while you tune in with us today. Thanks. We hope these next five minutes help you feel encouraged and inspired for your day. [00:00:22] Speaker B: Hi everybody and thanks so much for joining me. On today's weekday podcast, we let's go back and talk about creation and how creation connects to the love of God. Now I think this is a deep and yet simplistic perspective if you look through the lens of what Paul writes in First Thessalonians, chapter 5, beginning in verse 16. Because I think Paul makes a point that creation is actually the proof of, of the love of God. All around us, folks, are these evidences of God's desire for us to be joy filled. Now, maybe you don't feel that way today, and I totally get it, but these signs show us that God's love surpasses totally blows away what we can know. The first sign is, is creation itself. We live in this world that is magnificent. We live in a world that is beyond our understanding. And for many years, I don't know that I truly had the kind of eyes necessary to see the glory of God's creation nature. I was so busy in life and trying to, you know, make a, you know, a name for myself in life that too many years I didn't have the right eyesight to see the glory of God's creation. Nature was never really majestic to me. It was just like, okay, it's there and it's there for us to experience, but blah, blah, blah, right? I mean, sometimes it's like molecules that spend endlessly in some kind of like, weird pattern out there of evolution. But a single statement made by one of my favorite authors, G.K. chesterton, probably had an impact on a ton of people. But it did on me. Especially when I read a devotional some time back by James Brian Smith where Chesterton changes the way we could look or should look at the world around us. So Chesterton points out that, that nature is not a system of our necessity. Yeah, I mean, the sun will probably come up tomorrow, but it need not really. I mean, maybe each day God says to the sun, okay, do your thing. But I can remember, you know, growing up as a kid, my grandpa always said when he would look at that Florida sun while we were out fishing on Lake George, he would always say, look there, boy, that's the glory of the Lord. But I look back on it now, and especially through the words of Chesterton. I look back and now I see grass and trees and I see animals and just think, doggone it, that's awesome, because instead of seeing them as some kind of like a prop in the drama of my life, I see them as gifts, extraordinary gifts spoken by the word of God for our enjoyment and our joy. You know, if you begin today looking at creation pretty carefully and then you just kind of, I know it sounds weird, but kind of meditate on its goodness, well, then we, we can discover that. We can look at it and say, wow, God, you really love me, don't you? And in that, find a whole new level of joy. God's love is even proven in how creation was there for us to enjoy. Let our prayer be today. God, when. When I think about your creation, would you let me have this deeper, better understanding of how much you love me even, even in that creation? God bless you, friend. Enjoy God's creation today and remember how much he loves you in it. Have a great day and thanks for joining me on today's weekday podcast. Go in peace.
