[00:00:10] Welcome back to another edition of the weekday podcast I mentioned yesterday. But all week long we're thinking about this idea of spiritual warfare. So if you've ever wondered what's up with spiritual warfare, Is it real or is it just a movie thing? I think this week's going to be super helpful. And today's episode is called the army that you cannot see. The army that you cannot see. And if you're going to read some verses to go with this, it comes from two kings, chapter 6, verses 15, 16, and 17. But here's the idea. You've probably woken up and you felt like everything is closing in. I think we've all had those moments. And in this passage, that's exactly where Elisha's servant found himself. He steps outside in the early morning from his tent, and there it is. There's this full army that is surrounding the entire city. So there's horses, horses and chariots and this overwhelming, overwhelming force. And his response is completely honest. He says, alas, my master, what shall we do now? I love that the Bible includes that line because it's not a faith failure. That is a real human moment where he's looking at a terrifying situation and he's responding the way any of us would like, we're gonna die. But here's what Elisha says back to him, and I love this phrase. He says, do not fear, for those that are with us are more than those that are with them.
[00:01:27] Now, if I put myself in the footsteps of the servant, I'm looking around thinking, sir, I'm doing the math, and this is not adding up.
[00:01:35] Then Elisha prays one of the most important prayers in the entire Old Testament. He doesn't pray for God to send reinforcements. He doesn't pray for the army to disappear. He prays, oh, Lord, I pray that you would open his eyes that he may see. And the Lord does it. The Lord opens the servant's eyes. And the mountain is full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. And, and here's what I want you to notice in this. Nothing in the physical world changed. The Arminian army, the Armenian army, that's the enemy. They were still there. The city was still surrounded. What changed wasn't the physical world. It was the servant's ability to see the full picture. The chariots weren't sent when Elisha prayed. They were revealed. They were already there. Which means this. The force protecting you right now is greater than the force that's against you, whether you can see it or not. I think the reason so many of us live with this low grade fear isn't that God has abandoned us. It's that we haven't asked for the prayer that Elisha prayed. We keep trying to fight with the one eye open, seeing only the visible pressure, the visible threat, the visible army surrounding the city. What would change today if you ask God to open your eyes to what he is already doing around you? The mountain is full right now. Before you prayed, before you could see it. That's the great reminder. God did not send the chariots. When Elisha prayed, He revealed them. They were already there and they're there for you today.
