Thanks. We hope these next five minutes help you feel encouraged and inspired for your day.
[00:00:23] Speaker B: Hi, everybody. This is Pastor Chuck Allen, and I want to thank you for joining me on another weekday podcast where I want to talk about what it's like when you're surrounded by trouble.
I've been there, haven't you? Where it's just like everywhere you turn is just one more mess. I've had seasons, I've had days, I've had hours, I've had months. Where you just seem like you were surrounded by trouble. In John's gospel, in chapter 16, verse 33, the message translates that scripture this way. In this godless world, you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart. I've conquered the world. Now, those would be Jesus words. The Bible says that man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward. You ever been at a bonfire, or maybe you were just burning Christmas paper or whatever?
My favorite thing to do is to sit on my front porch on a cool fall evening and have a fire in this little thing called a solo stove. I just love it. I mean, it's one of those smokeless fire pits. But even then, I mean, you see these sparks as they lift upward, they don't fall down, they go up. The Bible says we are as prone to trouble just like sparks fly upward. Jesus said, in this world, you're going to have problems, you're going to have troubles. He literally guaranteed it. And it's just as likely to happen on one day as it is the other. There are a lot of serious problems that are caused by unrelenting attacks of your spiritual enemy, folks.
In his hymn A Mighty Fortress is Our Guard, Martin Luther wrote that our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe. Listen to it again. Our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe. But God is our helper. Amid the flood of mortal ills, he ends with this triumphant declaration, where he says, and though this world with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, we will not fear, for God hath willed his truth to triumph through us. So despite your troubles, take heart, my friend. Jesus has overcome this world. And despite every problem that Satan throws your way, God will eventually cause you to triumph for his glory and for your good. And you might end up with a few dents and scratches, but God will come through. He will not abandon you. So friend. Walk in the certainty of God's love and his promise in your life this day. And thanks so much for joining me on today's weekday podcast.
[00:03:05] Speaker A: Thanks so much for joining us today for the weekday podcast. Our prayer is that the encouragement you just heard would help you live more like Jesus today.
