[00:00:00] Foreign.
[00:00:04] Hi, everybody. I'm Pastor Chuck Allen. Welcome to another weekday podcast. Today I want us to take a look at a few pieces of scripture. The first one being Hebrews 10, beginning in verse 24.
[00:00:15] Let me paraphrase quickly. It says, let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. Or maybe Galatians 6:2, to share each other's burdens. Or Ecclesiastes 4, beginning of verse 9, where two people are better than one.
[00:00:31] Or Acts chapter 2, verse 42. And beyond, where the first century church was open and generous and it was powerful.
[00:00:39] You know, I. I think we have bought the lie way too often that we're supposed to go at this work in our life, like we're like some kind of Rambo that does it all on our own.
[00:00:53] You know, it. The problem is we. We've been sold a myth that we're to go it alone. Hustle harder. Be your own hero. Or the other way. Not my circus, not my monkey. It's everywhere. The movies, the ads, even in churches. Sometimes just me and God, my stuff to fix my world, to win. Are me, kill bear, feed family.
[00:01:11] Or maybe you lean the other way. You know, it's just like, you know, I'd give up. But hear me. God never intended for you to journey on this messy earth alone. Never.
[00:01:21] For from the book of Genesis through the book of the Revelation, he calls me and you and every follower of Jesus into community.
[00:01:28] Life isn't solo golf. It's not lugging every club, it's not fixing every shank. It's not muttering to yourself in misery. No, real golf, the kind with laughter and recovery, is played together.
[00:01:41] Think about that for a minute. Standing at the tee, heart pounding, you shank a drive straight into the woods. Other golfers in your group, they might say, hey, to take a mulligan, a complete complimentary do over. That's the thing, you can't really grant yourself a mulligan. Grace is handed to you in community, in faith.
[00:02:01] Think about this. In faith, it's the very same. You don't fix yourself in isolation. Real second chances, real grace are found. When someone says, let's try it again together, let's pause.
[00:02:14] Who needs a mulligan this week?
[00:02:16] Who's going to step up and give you one?
[00:02:19] Guys, this is why we exist. Not as a building or a brand, but as an essential team for each other, under the banner of Christ Jesus. The church isn't a noun. The church is a verb. It's what we do. Not where we go.
[00:02:33] So let's reclaim it today. Let's discover the church not as a club, but as God's dream team. A radical community where we can live out your very messy world, embracing all your mulligans and be a part of something that actually cares. This week, who can you give a mulligan to? And if you need one, who can you let in? And let them give you that.
[00:02:58] Let's practice grace and action together. Let's claim our mulligans and trust God through all of it. God bless you, friend. Thanks so much for joining me on today's weekday podc.
