[00:00:00] Foreign. [00:00:09] Welcome back to another edition of the weekday podcast. All week long, we're thinking about an invisible battle. And the truth is, every day, you and I are bombarded with information. Some of it's true, most of it isn't. And if we're not careful, lies will slip in so quietly that we don't even notice that they're taking control. [00:00:26] Paul says that when your mind is renewed, you'll be able to prove what the will of God is. Here's what Romans 12:2 says so that you may prove what the will of God is. That which is good and acceptable and perfect. That word prove, literally means to test it and approve it. It's a Greek word that is used in metalworking for testing gold to see if it's the real thing. In other words, when your mind is renewed, you can actually tell the difference between what's real and what's fake. And that's essential. And the reason why that's essential is because the enemy is a master of subtle lies. He doesn't always shout. He often whispers like, you'll never change. [00:01:03] God's disappointed in you. [00:01:05] Everyone else has it figured out but you. And those lies sound familiar because they mimic our inner voice. But they lead to bondage. The devil doesn't need to destroy you outright if he can just deceive you slowly. Remember the old myth that humans only use 10% of their brains? It is totally false, but people repeated it so often that it felt true. And that's Deception works. It gains strength through repetition, not accuracy. Or think about when you thought you locked your front door only to come home and find it wide open. You trusted a false assumption, and it left you vulnerable. And that's what lies do. They promise safety, but they leave us exposed. So how do we expose those lies before they shape us? Number one, pay attention to the patterns. Like what keeps replaying in your mind. Number two, hold it up to Scripture. God's truth is the ultimate lie detector. Number three, say it out loud. Because naming a lie actually weakens its hold on you. Number four, bring it into community. Share it with a trusted friend or pastor who will help you see it clearly. It takes humility to admit I've believed something that just isn't true. But freedom. It actually begins where honesty begins. Now, some lies feel like old furniture. They've been in the room so long that they feel part of the house. But when the Holy Spirit shines a light on them, you realize they've been cluttering your piece. So expose them. Replace them. You'll be amazed how much lighter your mind feels when it's filled with truth instead of assumptions. [00:02:31] So here's the big idea. Today, what you don't expose, you'll end up excusing. So here's the closing thought. Today, let God's word be the light that reveals the truth. And the freedom that follows will be so worth it. Have a great day. We'll see you back here tomorrow, Sam.
