[00:00:02] Three, two. Well, hey, friends, welcome back to another edition of the weekday podcast. It's Monday, and I'm super grateful you're with us this week. This week. I want to encourage you if you're able, to join us every single weekday as we spend a few minutes with a little bit of encouragement. I think this week's going to be super helpful. And today we're going to kick off this idea that God, he's not absent. God, he's not absent. Daniel, chapter 2, verse 13. It talks about this decree. It says, so the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain, and they look for Daniel and his friends to kill them. Now, I don't know if this is true for you, but chances are there's been a moment where you've gotten in trouble, and it was for something that was completely 100% not your fault. Not the. I was kind of involved. Not I was technically there. I mean, you didn't start it. You didn't know about it, and somehow it became your problem anyway. Well, I had that problem a while ago.
[00:00:54] You know, somebody made a decision that was three steps removed from me, and by the time it reached my desk, I was the one holding the mop for a mess that I never made. And I remember sitting there at my desk thinking, this isn't fair. And it's also got nowhere else to go. I have to deal with it. I think most of adult life is full of things like that. A diagnosis that shows up out of nowhere, a marriage that's hard for reasons that neither of you fully choose, a job loss that's tied to decisions that were made honestly three levels above your desk, A kid who's struggling even though they did, you know, you did everything right.
[00:01:27] So there's a man in the Bible who understands this better than almost anyone. His name's Daniel. In Daniel Chapter two, a king named Nebuchadnezzar has this disturbing dream. And instead of just telling the dream to his advisors, he demands that they tell him the dream first and then that they interpret it, which, of course, is impossible. So when they can't do it, he orders every wise man in Babylon to be executed. And here's the part that really hits.
[00:01:50] Daniel wasn't even in the room when. When this started. He was a young foreigner. He was still working his way up at the king's court. He didn't dream the dream. He didn't make the demand. And yet this royal commander shows up at his door with an execution order that has his name on it just because Just because now scripture says the decree went out and they looked for Daniel and his friends to kill them. Not because of anything that Daniel did, but because he happened to be standing in the blast radius of somebody else's crisis. I want you to notice something before we go any further this week. Some problems land on you. They really do. They don't grow out of your choices. They fall on you like weather. And if that's you right now, if you're carrying something you didn't create and you can't fix it by trying harder, I want you to hear this. That's not a sign that you're failing. It might be exactly the kind of moment that God specializes in, because here's what I've learned holding my own version of the mop. The shift we need isn't what can I do?
[00:02:49] It's to what can be done differently. The shift that we actually need is from what can I do? To who do I trust when there's nothing I can do? And those are two different questions. The first one, it keeps you spinning. The second one is where peace actually starts. So tomorrow, I want to show you exactly what Daniel did next. Because it's not what most of us do first, but today, I want to encourage you to sit with this. You're allowed to stop pretending you can fix everything that lands on you. There are some things that were never yours to fix. They were only ever yours to hand over. Some problems, they don't grow out of your choices. They fall on you like the weather.
