Thanks for hanging out with us today. One of the things that happens in the story of Moses is that when God's commissioning him, God gives him an object lesson, or he gives him several object lessons to remind him of what's important. What happens in Exodus chapter 4 is God gives him this object lesson where he asked Moses to take his hand and stick it inside of his robe or whatever he's wearing, right? Stick it inside the fold of that. And so he does it. And when he does that and he pulls it back out, his hand is full of leprosy. And then God says in Exodus 4. Seven, put your hand back inside the fold of your robe again. So he put his hand back inside the fold, and when he took it out, behold, it was restored like the rest of his flesh. Sometimes when you read stuff like this, you wonder, well, what's the big deal about that? What is God showing him? Well, in many ways, when we see Moses with his hand, that hand represents the thing that he's called to do. His. You might call it his professional life, the thing that he's known for. His hand represents his calling. His heart represents his inner life. And so when God has him place his hand over his heart that first time, and it comes back out leprosy. What God is actually teaching Moses is, Moses, whatever lives in your heart, whatever is inside of you, if there's unresolved things in your life, whatever is in your heart will eventually leak its way out into what you do. In other words, Moses, you cannot separate who you are from what you do. You can't do it. I think that's a great lesson for us today, is because oftentimes we get stuck in some area of our life, sometimes we get stuck in some place, and we've got some internal struggle going on that we've never dealt with. In fact, sometimes we have our little pet sins. We have our little pet things that we do, but there has to come a moment in our lives where we hate those things. There has to come a moment in our lives when we cannot stand their presence in our hearts. Now, I get it. Hate is a strong word. I don't mean for it to be triggering. But what I do mean is there has to become a moment where we realize that what's inside of us will eventually leak its way out. And if our heart is not healthy, the rest of our life will not be healthy. And so instead of harboring things that are killing us inside of our hearts, what would happen if we hated them so much that we would do something about it? You'll never change until you hate where you are. So today, how's your heart? What's going on underneath the surface? Is there any greed? Is there anxiety? Is there lust? Is there pride, guilt, anger, jealousy, unforgiveness, bitterness? The list could go on, but how's your heart? Would you hate those things enough to do something about it and keep a clean heart? Have a great day. We'll see you back here soon. [00:03:26] Speaker A: Thanks so much for joining us today for the weekday podcast.
