[00:00:00] Foreign. [00:00:10] Welcome back to another edition of the Sugar Hill Church Weekday Podcast. Thanks for being with us. If you didn't know it, you can go to weekdaypodcast.com and find the back catalog. Meaning if you have a topic or something you're walking through and you just want to catch up on it, be sure to visit weekdaypodcast.com well, one of the things I'm convinced of is you can be surrounded by people and still feel unseen. You can attend gatherings and you can still feel unknown. And that's why the early church didn't just share sermons, they actually shared meals. In Acts 2, 44, 46, listen to some of these phrases. It says all those who had believed were together, breaking bread from house to house, taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart. [00:00:52] What I found is that belonging grows when our life is shared. Now, the early church had this kind of togetherness that wasn't manufactured, it was actually practiced. They didn't teach each other like there were strangers who happened to like the same content. Instead, they treated each other like they were family who were on the same journey. And one of the most powerful phrases in that passage is they were breaking bread. In other words, meals were their glue mills, were their doorway. They were slow. They were their simple way of saying, you matter to me. And I think this matters because you can learn a lot from the content that's here. You can listen to a lot of sermons while you drive. You can listen to sermons while you work out. You can listen to sermons while you fold laundry. But what you cannot download is what your soul needs most. And I think that's being known, being seen, someone looking you in the eye saying, how are you really? And hospitality is how strangers become neighbors. Not because hospitality is fancy, but because it's intentional. [00:01:55] So how do you do this without making it complicated? Well, one thing is to keep it simple. Like, keep it simple. Paper plates count. A messy living room counts. You don't have to perform. [00:02:04] Another way to do this is to share the everyday stuff. Don't wait for a big event. Invite someone into ordinary life. Coffee, a walk, a quick lunch, a kid's game, a run to the store. [00:02:16] And then start with the invitation. Most community is waiting on one brave sentence. Hey, we've never really hung out. Want to grab something this week? Now, if you're a perfectionist, hear this clearly. You don't have to be Martha Stewart to love people well. So I want to encourage you, send an invitation today. Maybe it's coffee, lunch, a walk, or we're grabbing brunch. Want to come and see what happens as strangers turn into neighbors? Have a great day. We'll see you soon. [00:02:48] Sat.
